2. I currently own three Schubert Symphony Cycles and this one by Istvan Kertesz and the Vienna Philharmonic is the best so far. The stereo performances, beginning in with the 8th and 9th Symphonies and the Overtures, with the remainder done in /5(6).

It is worth pointing out that the cover of this release describes the symphonies as No. 7 Unfinished and No. 8 The Great using the numbering of the revised Deutsch catalogue and the Neue Schubert-Ausgabe (New Schubert Edition) complete catalogue of works .

The sound quality on these CDs is excellent and this 4CD set is currently available from some Amazon partners at less than $, making this a top recommendation for listeners looking for a Schubert Symphony cycle/5(37).
